Plus Size Wedding Gowns

From time to time, the girls here at WomanToday get requests asking for advice on wedding dresses and wedding day fashion in general. From the bride, to the groom to even the guests, we’ve seen it all and are happy to help.

Now, for the most part, the groom and male guests tend to take care of themselves, it’s us women that are always undecided! One question that we’re often asked, well, one area that women often want advice is their wedding dress. It seems that pretty much all women are worried about finding a dress that will fit and suit them - regardless of their body type and size. The good news is that whatever your body size, type or shape then you will 100% be able to find a wedding dress that suits you. Whether you’re looking for a standard sized dressed, a small, size zero dress or even plus size gowns you do not need to worry. Wedding dresses are available for all body sizes, you just need to source one and then concentrate on the party planning!

Women and Camping

Over the Christmas period, me and my husband have been considering our 2009 vacation. We try to get away during the months or March or April when the kids are off school and always try to go somewhere exotic, well, hot at least. However…this year, my husband has suggested taking the kids camping in the mountains. I was quite up for the idea at first but have been thinking about it more and the thought of spending a week up in the mountains, especially in March is quite daunting to say the least! The other issue is that I know nothing about survival and can barely look after myself in the city, let alone the mountains of Canada. I am sure, for my husband it is just an excuse for him to play with tents and do manly activities with the kids so I guess I don’t really have much choice.

The other issue is my wardrobe. I don’t think I have a single item of clothing suitable for a camping trip. Especially in these temperatures. I guess if he wants to go camping then it gives me a good excuse to hit the shops in the January sale and pick up a few new garments!

An Eternity Ring - The Perfect Option

We all know that when it comes to relationships, it’s the guys that don’t like the commitment. This isn’t anything new to us girls, so how best to show that you really love your guy without scaring him off? Well, we think we have found it. This goes for you guys too! Yes, you’ve guess it, eternity rings. These rings don’t just make fantastic valentines or anniversary gifts, they also show that you really love your partner and wish that you’re together forever, for the rest of time, for eternity. I realise that probably sounds a little deep, but if you’re looking to show your partner that you really care about them and want to be with them - but don’t particularly want to commit to something as serious as marriage. An eternity ring might be the perfect option for you. Of course, eternity rings make great gifts for already married couples. There is nothing better than receiving a gift that underlines your husbands love (or wife’s) once you’re already married, especially if you’re a few years in. Eternity rings are often popular gifts at child birth also. If you’re expecting, this will be a great gift to give to your partner.

There Is More To Jewelry

All of us women love jewelry, well, I certainly don’t know any woman who doesn’t. But, there is a lot more to jewelry than just looking good. For some, jewelry becomes a hobby with many individuals taking an avid interest in the subject as well as just wearing it. Finding the best priced jewelry offers and deals as well as trading in jewelry is a popular past time for some. Although admittedly, not all of us are that lucky! The whole worth of jewelry is a subject in itself, with many individuals closely monitoring the current gold prices, silver prices and even platinum prices with a view to find out the best time to buy a collection of new pieces - with a view on protecting their investments. Keeping track of the gold prices using your favourite jewelry blog is a good way of doing this and by viewing such blogs, you often comes across some good deals and jewelry coupons to make your purchase even more feasible. As much as we all love jewelry and all love wearing it, it can be quite costly and the least amount we can pay, the better. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with jewelry prices in 2009 with Gold surpassing platinum in the value stakes.

Creating Your Own Fashion

We get a lot of e-mails from people wanting to get started in the fashion industry and often get asked how to go about it. The advice we give is always the same, don’t think about designing clothes for other people to begin with, try designing a few pieces for yourself or modifying changing your existing clothes to create a brand new outfit. Once you have done this and your styles are getting more and more recognised, then you can safely move up the ladder and try and design some pieces for others.

A good piece of apparel to get started with is t shirts. Nice and simple. Everyone wears them and you no doubt have a few in your collection that you can chop up and re-style. If you’re feeling a little more creative, you might also want to consider doing some designs and having them professionally printed on your existing or new plain t-shirts? There are lots of t shirt printing companies out there that will allow just that and normally for a fairly low cost! It’s definitely a good way to get started in the industry.

You can also try browsing the web and reading the various fashion articles related to designing and printing your own t-shirt.

Finding The Perfect Wedding Dress

Finding the perfect wedding dress is often extremely time consuming. We often have an idea on the specific colour, size and styling of the dress we require and as a result, finding one that fits them specifications can often be tough. Most local wedding gown designers offer a good range of dresses, but finding the right one for you is often tedious. We tend to just settle on one and accept that it’s not going to be perfect. But, with that said, more and more people are turning to the Internet to find wedding dresses and prom dresses for that matter. By browsing the vast amount of sites on the web, you are more than likely able to find a wedding dress that matches what you want to a tee.

A particularly favourite website of mine is morilee.com. This website offers some truly outstanding designs for wedding, prom, bridesmaids and flower girl dresses. The dress designs featured on morilee.com are quite simply some of the most elegant styles we have ever seen here at WomanToday.

The website boasts a huge, well categorised catalog of formal wear and gowns modelled to the highest standard so you can literally browse for hours in order to find a dress that really suits you. This website offers dresses at the very forefront of fashion which in turn gives you a great idea for prom dresses 2009!

A particular favourite collection of mine is most certainly the quinceanera collection which really epitomises the overall design of the gowns featured on morilee.com

Of course, we appreciate that you’re going to want to see these gowns and dresses in person before parting with your hard earned money. There is no substitute for trying on a gown and feeling the high quality fabric against your flesh. You also want to avoid having a dress turn up via mail order and having it be a few sizes to big or even worse, a few sizes too small. Luckily, the morilee.com website has a fantastic store / stockist search where you can simply enter your town, city, zip and state and it will then provide you with a list of contact details (including address) for stockists of their collection so you can then go to the store in person and hopefully try on the dream dress that you have previously sourced online. It truly is a remarkable shopping experience.

Prom Dresses Of 2008

2008 has seen the traditional high school prom become more popular than ever before with many schools here in the United Kingdom also participating in the traditionally American based end of school ceremony. As a result of this, the market for Prom Dresses has increased significantly with many retailers on the high street moving into this new, previously untapped arena. Of course, the business is one part of it but to you, it’s all about your prom dress. 2008 has seen some truly remarkable and unique prom dresses emerge which blend the classical look of the traditional dress with the modern styling often found on celebrities walking the red carpet. Of course, prom dresses do come at a premium, mainly due to the amount of material involved and the time to create one. You can however find all sorts of cheap dresses by trawling the Internet and hiring a prom dress is also an option if you’re looking to save a few pounds. You can find all design styles including plus size prom dresses on the Internet along with modern, classic and traditional styles in a wide range of colours to suit you. Fashion Lux for Less

In this world of exclusive brand names and luxurious lifestyles, it is indeed no easy task to find great fashion without spending a fortune. But just because you’re low on cash does not mean that you can’t achieve the classy, elegant, polished look characteristic of rich women.

Wearing vintage clothing is practically the “in” thing for the social set, and luckily for the cash-strapped chick, vintage abound in garage sales and the Salvation Army. Just a little alteration here and there and they’re good as new. And if you just learn to use your imagination, you can actually cut up and reconstruct a piece of clothing and come up with something unique and trendy.

Instead of shelling out thousands of dollars for a designer to customize your clothes, why not learn to do it yourself? The fabric store is a gold mine of appliques, beads, sequins, and what-have-yous that you can sew on your basic T-shirts and dresses for that one-of-a-kind item that you can brandish around in social gatherings.

And lastly, if you really want to done a genuine brand, wait for store sales. Even expensive shops will drop their prices up to 75% off. Just be extra patient. Make sure to go around every store especially when there’s a mall sale. You will be surprised at the priceless fashion treasures you will find.

Wristbands Are Here To Stay

Wristbands such as the increasingly popular livestrong wristband are definitely here to stay. How many of you can say you have never purchases a wristband to help a good cause, celebrate an event or just purely to make a fashion statement? If you haven’t, I guarantee you will know someone who has. Not only do wristbands offer a social statement, support a good cause or simply look cool - they are also extremely practical! I know I have found a few uses for the wristbands I have purchased over the past few years.

One thing that has surprised me, particularly with the rubber bracelets is how durable they are? I know when I was at Glastonbury this year I had my wristband on for the whole week and put it through all sorts and it stood up well! To be honest, I think silicone wristbands are on course to replace more more traditional gold and silver bracelets. Not just because they’re practical, durable and inexpensive, mainly because they normally support and good cause and are simply more fashionable, especially with the youth of today.

I am looking forward to 2009 where I can hopefully collect a few more wristbands and help out a few charities along the way!

Give that Old Dress a Modern Twist

Though women these days prefer the comfortable, no-fuss, minimalist look with stylish jeans and a basic tee, the good old dress is definitely enjoying a comeback. The new styles that come out now prove that the dress can be as fuss-free as wearing your casual jean and T-shirt garb. The belted shirtdress or the printed wrap style is the perfect combination of femininity and practicality, resembling Audrey Hepburn’s timeless fashion.

To get the look, update the classic black dress with a wide belt at the waist to show off your curves. Or you can also spice it up by wearing a wide Japanese obi belt in rich Oriental red.

If you opt for an empire-waist style, don a short cardigan or cropped jacket to emphasize the waist. Stay away from too much volume, though, as it could make you look pregnant.

If you choose vintage, however, make sure to create a modern appeal by carrying a trendy slouch bag instead of the classic frame handbag, and wearing platform shoes instead of round-toe pumps. Flats are okay for the day, but if you want to mea your legs look longer and sexier, pointy heels are the way to go.
