Hints for Your Wedding Day
Everyone has advice for you on your wedding day. Most of them are hand-me-down opinions and counsel, telling you what the other party wants you to do. But the best piece of advice given to me on my wedding day was this: take a minute or three at your reception and sit back, uninterrupted and alone. Enjoy the moment. Sample some of your dinner that you might not have had a chance to start. Sip the champagne, even if you don’t like it. Don’t catch anyone’s eye, as you’ll be drawn into a conversation – this is your moment. Just enjoy – all these people are here for you (and your new husband). It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle bustle of the wedding and reception – before, with the plans and preparation, and on the day, making sure everything goes smoothly. Take a moment to enjoy the hard work, the company, the reason why everyone is there eating, drinking, dancing, and generally being merry. Don’t get to the end of the night and wonder where it all went. Make sure you take a moment, however brief, and savour it. After all, it’s probably the only wedding you’ll have!
